It's no secret that being a #femalefounder is hard. From getting funded to dealing with #impostersyndrome, there are unique challenges that come with the territory. Despite the challenges, it's also an incredibly rewarding experience.

As I prepare to attend the RE:Work AI in Healthcare Summit Boston next week, I thought about some of the reasons for going. One of them is to learn and share with others about experiences, challenges and tips to navigate them. In this article, we'll explore some of the common challenges faced by female founders and offer advice on how to overcome them.

 One of the biggest challenges faced by female entrepreneurs is raising capital. According to a report by First Round Capital, only 2.7% of venture-backed startups are led by women. This statistic is even more jarring when you consider that women make up 51% of the US population.

So, what's the reason for this funding gap? There are a few theories. One is that VCs are more likely to invest in companies that have a personal connection to them. Since most VCs are men, this means that female-led startups are at a disadvantage from the start unless they are a female-centric firm.
